The one-of-a-kind jacket worn by Bob Dylan on
the cover of The Basement Tapes album will feature at PFC Auctions May sale.
The red, white and black striped
jacket belonged to an acquaintance of Dylan, who took an immediate liking to
it, despite the fact that it was a little too small for him. Whilst wearing the
jacket Dylan split the back and arm open but this has since been stitched.
The famous photograph for The
Basement Tapes album was taken by noted photographer Reid Miles in the basement
of a Los Angeles YMCA. In the photograph, Dylan and his band pose beside
characters suggested by the album’s songs; a women in a Mrs Henry T-shirt, a
circus strongman, an Eskimo and a dwarf.
“This is one of the most
important items of Dylan memorabilia we have ever seen and we are very excited
to be able to offer it. The Basement Tapes is widely considered to be one of the most celebrated and influential albums
of all time, so the winning bidder will be buying a unique piece of music
